Pontypool RFC v Carmarthen Quins RFC at Pontypool Park Free Entrypontypool rfc v carmarthen quins rfc

After Pontypool RFC’s Cup exploits last Season, the promise made before every Draw after the first round Win over Llanelli from CEO Ben Jeffreys was that if Pontypool got a home draw then it would be Free Entry for all. Unfortunately Pontypool RFC received 3 away draws in the great cup run of 2016/17 season eventually going out after a hard fort game at Cross Keys RFC. This was only after having beaten both Llanelli and Cardiff on their home turf.

So just over a Week ago, on Saturday 6th January the WRU National Cup 2017/18 started again with a home draw against Tata Steel RFC. Pontypool RFC won the game playing some glorious rugby scoring 8 tries in tough conditions against a TataSteel side that would not give up (Read the Match Report Here). After the draw last week Pontypool RFC now welcome Carmarthen Quins RFC to Pontypool Park for the 2nd Round of the WRU National Cup. With news today that the game will also be televised Live on S4C.

The support last season for the Cup run was special but let’s make this seasons cup run even more impressive and show how many supporters we can get at the Park for this massive Cup game. So we can get behind the Team and show them the support that they richly deserve. With the game against local rivals Newbridge over the festive season being one of the highest in recent seasons lets seen the people of Pontypool and surrounding towns come out and support local club rugby (this is of course if you’re not at your local clubs game).

So lets see the #PoolerArmy Grow and stay with the side for the rest of the cup run and league games going forward and show the Players, staff, volunteers and Owners that we are proud to support them and what they are trying to achieve.

Other 2nd Round Fixtures are

Bargoed RFC v Rhydyfelin RFC
Beddau RFC v Bedwas
Bridgend v Ebbw Vale
Cardiff Rugby v Merthyr
Cross Keys v Bedlinog RFC
Llandovery v Llanelli
Newport v Aberavon

The Royal Hawaiian – Darts Legends on Show in Blaenavon, TorfaenDarts Legends Blaenavon

The most entertaining duo in the world of professional darts will appear together for an evening of unrivalled sporting entertainment in Blaenavon in 2018.

Darting royalty in the form of the legendary Bobby George will appear alongside charismatic pro-turned commentator and pundit Wayne Mardle at The Royal Hawaiian at Blaenavon Workmen’s Hall on Saturday 21 April.

The pair are famous for their flamboyant and fun-loving stage presence as much as their excellent darting ability – and entertainment is guaranteed before a dart has even been thrown.

Both have crowd-pleasing walk-on routines and are widely regarded as the kings of the exhibition circuit since retiring as professionals.

George, nicknamed ‘The King of Bling’ was a pioneer in bringing showbiz and razzmatazz into the game of darts.

His professional record is impressive in its own right too. George is a two-time World Championship finalist and a two-time News of the World Champion.

Mardle took up the mantle as the sport’s biggest personality in the modern Premier League era.

‘Hawaii 501’ also has an excellent professional record, reaching the semi-finals of the World Championship five times before opting to retire early and pursue a successful media career.

The pair will entertain the crowed with their trademark on stage antics during matches against lucky local players and a head-to-head showdown.

Tickets for The Royal Hawaiian at Blaenavon Workmen’s Hall on Saturday 21 April are available now via the following official ticket outlets:-
