Bringing Charles Dickens’ beloved novel to life, Lionel Bart’s Oliver! takes audiences on a wild adventure through Victorian England.
Join young, orphaned Oliver Twist as he navigates the London’s underworld of theft and violence, searching for a home, a family, and – most importantly – for love. When Oliver is picked up on the street by a boy named the Artful Dodger, he is welcomed into a gang of child pickpockets led by the conniving, but charismatic Fagin. When Oliver is falsely accused of a theft he didn’t commit, he is rescued by a kind and wealthy gentleman, to the dismay of Fagin’s violent sidekick, Bill Sykes. Caught in the middle is the warm-hearted Nancy, who is trapped under Bill’s thumb, but desperate to help Oliver, with tragic results. With spirited, timeless songs like “As Long as He Needs Me,” “Food, Glorious Food,” and “Where is Love,” Oliver! is a musical classic.

In late 1980, four strangers were brought together to perform in the Song for Europe contest; they won, and went on to represent the United Kingdom at the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest in Ireland. After winning that too, Bucks Fizz became a global phenomenon.Mike Nolan, Cheryl Baker, Jay Aston and Bobby G became household names thanks to their iconic skirt ripping routine, not to mention the song “Making Your Mind Up” becoming an instant hit giving the group their first No1. Bucks Fizz were far ahead of their time, a successful manufactured group, in the 1980’s, where the music scene was evolving from Punk to New Romantics. They secured their niche, re-styling and proving their versatility as performers with each album made, and singles released giving them sales of more than 15 million worldwide. They won countless music industry awards including, in 1982, Best Group at the BPI Rock & Pop awards (now the Brits), and an Ivor Novello Award, giving them their place in 80’s music history and a highly successful recording career.More than three decades later, Cheryl, Mike and Jay, original Bucks Fizz members, were joined for three years by Bobby McVay, to record a new studio album “The F-Z of Pop” produced by Mike Stock. Bobby left the band in early 2018. Cheryl, Mike and Jay are still touring and working as a trio until the perfect new member is found, showing that The Fizz and their songs are as popular as ever. Audiences, old and new, love hearing “Making Your Mind Up” and “The Land of Make Believe”, proving that in a world where the charts are dominated by newly manufactured bands, that you can’t beat the originals.
