Rugby World Cup Charity Sweepstake

Rugby World Cup Charity Sweepstake

So the rugby world cup is nearly upon us and we have made a very late decision to try and raise money for 2 Charities that have been connected with eventsnwales.com in some way either that have listed events, had an event listed which is raising money for them or helped out on Social Media. But we need local Welsh businesses/organisations or groups to help us.

How you may ask?

The answer is a fairly simple one. We need 20 Welsh Businesses/Organisations or groups to take part in our EventsnWales.com Rugby World Cup Charity Sweepstake. To take part all they need to do is to donate £10 to our EventsnWales.com Virgin Money Giving Page. This will be limited to the first 20 that donate (Please can you leave a note with the company name, or twitter handle something to identify yourself so we can keep track) and they will then be entered into the sweepstake which we are hoping to draw with our website sponsors and broadcast live on Periscope on Friday. So we are looking to hopefully get a speedy response and the places taken quickly for us to get this in motion.

The 2 Chosen charities are Ieuan the Lion Memorial Fund and St Kentigern Hospice.

EventsnWales.com first became aware of the Ieuan the Lion Memorial Fund when we contacted them about the possibility of listing an event on our website for the launch of EventsnWales.com and ever since that our launch they have helped spread the word of events they have listed and eventsnwales.com in general.

We came across the second charity in a slightly different way and this was when and event posted by the Ysgol y Castell PTA and the event Castell Beat which was raising money for St Kentigern Hospice. They have followed us on social media since the event was promoted and we hope to see some of their own events on our website in the future.

Rugby World Cup Charity Sweepstake Prize?

We will be awarding 2 prizes for those that take part.

First prize will give the Business/Organisation or Group that have the Winning team of the Rugby World Cup Charity Sweepstake an Advertising Banner for 1 year (normal cost £45) which will appear on our blog posts and events pages rotation.

Second Prize will give the Business/Organisation or Group that have the team that finish Runners Up in the Rugby World Cup Charity Sweepstake an Advertising Banner for 6 Months (normal cost £22.50) which will appear on our blog posts and events pages rotation.

We really hope that Welsh businesses/organisations or groups will get involved and help us raise at least the £100 per charity we are aiming for and we hope to be able to provide the winners and runners up with advertising banners to help spread the word of their organisations to our visitors on EventsnWales.com.

If anyone would like to help us raise money for the 2 charities your more than welcome to donate through our fundraising page.

Top 10 Events on EventsnWales has your event made it?

Top 10 Events on EventsnWales has your event made it?

Total Number of Events that have been listed on EventsnWales.com

So to celebrate EventsnWales.com being 6 months old we thought we would list the Top 10 Events on EventsnWales by rank of page views. This is counted every time the individual event page is viewed or loaded from the website on any device. Many factors could determine if your event has made it into our top 10 events such as

  • the length of time the event was listed on the website prior to the event
  • how popular the event is in general
  • if it has been searched through search engines
  • how many times the event page has been shared via social media and other sources

These are just a few things that can contribute to an event getting listed in the top 10 events. Many other factors exist but we have just listed some to give you an idea of things that can influence the number of page views your events page gets.

Top 10 Events on EventsnWales

#1 Race of Remembrance brought to you by Mission Motorsport – The Forces Motorsport Charity

This event tops the chart after being one of the original events listed on the website from launch and with just over 2 months to the Race of Remembrance event has been live on the website for the full 6 months. A great charity event which you can read more about by visiting the event page and see how to attend a very special remembrance Sunday service.

#2 Kidwelly Carnival 2015

The Kidwelly Carnival 2015 was held in July and was only listed a very short period prior to the event but attracted a high volume of page views since being listed. I have no doubt that they will be listing future events on our website.

#3 Rods Tour of Wales

Rod listed his solo Ride from North to South Wales on the website from launch and we can confirm that only yesterday Rod completed his 3 day, 250 mile ride for charity pop over to the original event page Rods Tour of Wales as it’s never to late to donate to the 2 charities Rod was raising money for.

#4 PUGFEST

Another event that was fairly limited on time prior to the date of the event, but with all you animal and especially Pug lovers around you managed to get the event into the top 10 events on eventsnwales. Feel free to have a read about the event in the event achieves PUGFEST event page.

#5 Ruthin Castle Family Fun Day

The Ruthin Castle Family Fun Day was heavily searched via search engines during the short period prior to the event listed and this helped it land a spot at number 5 in the top 10 events.

#6 Fathers Day Charity Bikeride – Raising Awareness of Prostate Cancer

Originally listed for a local event in Cwmbran with other area’s of Wales being added later which helped the Fathers Day Charity Bikeride – Raising Awareness of Prostate Cancer into the top 10 events on EventsnWales.

#7 Cpl Mike Thacker Memorial Match

This event was held in Caerleon in May this year and we have heard that the Memorial match will be part of an annual fun day held in Caerleon which will hopefully continue to be listed on EventsnWales.com if you would like to read more about the event links are provided on the old event page.

#8 Dalmatian BikeRide 2015 – St. David’s Hospice

It was the 4th year that the Dalmatian BikeRide had been held and another great event to have listed on eventsnwales and no surprise that this event made it into the top 10 events listed on EventsnWales due to the popularity of the event.

#9 South Wales Dog & Family Fun Day

With the amount of Animal lovers that also visit our website the South Wales Dog & Family Fun Day hit the last but one sport of the top 10 events even only being listed on the website for 2 months prior to the event.

#10 Laugharne Weekend 2015

As a very popular weekend the Laugharne Weekend 2015 finishes the top 10 events this has been searched a number of time through search engines.

All the above events and every event that is listed on our website is still able to be found via search engines after the date of the event. This means that by listing events on our website your details can be found for a period after and still spread the awareness of the events after the actual date. People sometimes ask but what is the benefit of this. The benefit comes from the fact that search engines still crawl the pages so your details such as website or social media pages that are linked from the event can be found allowing visitors to still connect with the companies, organisations or individuals that put on the events that have been listed.

Once again and as always we are grateful to all that list your events on the website and will continue to do all that we can to increase the exposure of EventsnWales.com, our social media accounts and all events listed on the website.

Events n Wales 3 months on

Events n Wales 3 months on

So Events n Wales has now been live for over 3 months and it is great to look back to see the range of events from around Wales that have already been listed on the website. We really do want the website to be a success and help businesses, charities, individuals and organisations to reach more people through Wales or to make more people aware of events being held. To do this we combine the fact of allowing members to list events which then become part of the website and are crawled by search engines all over the world. We make sure that we try to help the listings by making slight changes to the content or description to help with them get found on these search engines. As a result we wanted to just share a few of the different search terms that our website has shown up for and the website has made an impression on search engine results. (Results have been taken from Google Analytics)

Events n Wales 3 months onSince 1st March (Launch of Events n Wales) until the 18th July 2015 we have made impressions on over 178 different queries which average over that period in the Top 10 for that search (325 different search queries in total). We won’t bore you with the list of the 178 but are going to list a number of them to give you an idea of the broad range of ways that people can find your listing even when not looking for it as all of the search queries present a way to the website and all the listings on it. So here goes :

  • eventsnwales
  • “brian mayo” or “@brianmayo” or “brianmayo” -“mayo-smith”
  • trekfest
  • tiffany stevenson

Without the help of all of those that list the events from around Wales we would have nothing to share or shout about so we thank you all for signing up for a membership and listing your own events.

Events n Wales 3 months on

We have had nearly 5,000 page views since the website was launched which is a great start, which is growing month on month. With a comparison 72.4% of new visitors to 27.6% of returning visitors from over 2,400 visitors to Events n Wales.

Our Social media accounts are also growing with over 1.7k followers on Twitter, slower over on Facebook at 346, On Pinterest we have over 300 following our boards which every event gets pinned to at least one. With only very recently set up our Google+ page we would love more followers on that Platform.

Why do we ask you to list events instead of searching for events to list ourselves?

The reason that we have the membership system and events are listed the way they are is because we want to help those that want to promote events around wales that don’t always get the opportunity to be listed on the larger websites or that have to pay to advertise the event. We want to help take some of the stress away from helping to get your events out to the public, businesses and organisations that may be interested in it. But by building the community that we are events are being shared by others that also list or connected via social media, so the reach becomes wider and the events that are listed have a more detailed description than if we just found events and listed them ourselves.

Advertising available on Events n Wales

As part of the website and to be able to keep the website free to list events we do have an Advertising membership which is open to any businesses, organisations based in Wales that may like the opportunity to advertise on the events and blog posts pages which is done on a rotation basis. You can read more about this on our membership page.

We also have Website Sponsorship available and to be honest without the support of our first website sponsors Harris Associates SW Ltd we would not have lasted this long, the hours that are put in to the website and social media and costs of running and promoting the website really do need the backing of more but we hope that this will come in time. With more sponsorship and advertising taken up the more we will be able to help promote the website through even more paid promotion and advertising and extend the reach of the events listed as well as the number of visitors to the website and promote our Website sponsors at the same time.

If you have any questions the best way to contact us is via email which you can find on the website or via our contact us page.

100 Events around Wales

100 Events around Wales

So our first milestone of 100 events around Wales, listed on our website has been reached. It has taken time but with a lot of hard work and a lot of help from our sponsors and ever building network of connections, through all the social media platforms that we share on we have hit it. All Sponsorship money and any revenue that is made from the website goes straight back into the website, promotion and advertising via social media and other marketing areas. As a celebration of the 100 events around Wales we are going to introduce not only our Website sponsorship but also the chance for Welsh businesses to be able to advertise on the website in an area which is currently occupied by Google Ads which will appear on the event pages on a rotation basis. We are going to place limits on the amount of businesses that will be able to advertise (9) so that they get a fair amount of views. We are also limiting our Website sponsors to a maximum of 5 so we have our first Harris Associates (SW) Ltd who have been with us from launch. The website sponsors are not limited to just Wales as we know so many businesses help communities in Wales and may want to help with sponsorship of the website.

Bonus for the last event to hit the 100 Events around walesevents around wales

As a bonus for Correana White’s workshop being the event to complete the 100 events around Wales they will take up a bonus spot of the advertising for a period of a month. We will then award that space to different companies, groups or charities that have listed events with us in the past or future events with us or even someone or company that helps us share and shout about eventsnwales.com via social media could be awarded the bonus advertising spot. The other 9 advertising spots will be available for welsh businesses to purchase at a cost of £45 per year. If you have your on art work that can be used that would be great and it can be linked to either your homepage of your website or an internal page or even a Facebook or twitter page or group which ever you would like. If you do not have your own artwork we will happily help out to put something together with you.

Website sponsorship is still available with 4 slots which gives you a rotating banner on the top of the website, an area with business description and logo on the sponsors’ page and a smaller banner in the advertising area and the ability to post events for a total yearly cost of £75.

So the maximum total of banners that will rotate on the top of the website will be 5, which will be only for website sponsors and 15 different advertisers will rotate on the individual events pages which will include up to the maximum of 5 website sponsors, 9 advertisers and 1 bonus advert chosen by EventsnWales at random.

Thanks to all for the ongoing support and to all those that have listed on the website since the launch.
