This qualification is aimed at those working in health care settings who are required to administer Oxygen and Entonox® as part of their role. This includes, but is not limited to pre-hospital care providers. This is not a licence to practice qualification and employers should ensure they have full and rigorous Clinical Governance in place to be able to allow employees to administer medical gasses.

Pre-requisites

Candidates must be aged 18 years plus with level 2 literacy skills. Additionally candidates are required to hold a valid first aid qualification, such as first aid at work or outdoor first aid (16 hours)  or activity first aid (18 hours).

Family first aid fun learning day is a one day practical and fun event. Offering the family that takes part in outdoor adventure activities the key skills in first aid. Ideal for family groups and those aged 12 years plus. Those attending will be taught by trainers that have a wealth of skills including outdoor leadership qualifications and front line first aid skills in Mountain Rescue and the NHS Ambulance Services. Key skills include dealing with: The unresponsive casualty that is breathing or not breathing, Wounds and bleeding, contacting the emergency services when in remote locations, first aid equipment, what can you use in an emergency situation. Other subjects we cover include recognising and dealing with a fitting patient, a chocking casualty and a person that has become unwell for a wide range of causes. Each person attending will be awarded a certificate of attendance and makes an ideal alternative family day out at our Snowdonia training centre. This centre is located on a working farm that has a Welsh castle and rivers. All the practical training takes place on real outdoor terrain adding some realism to your fun learning day. Included in your day is a buffet style lunch all training. You will learn ho to control bleeding, how to contact the emergency services, how treat a blocked airway, how to perform CPR, how to use a Automated External Defibrillator, how to treat burns and many other conditions that you may come across when taking part in outdoor adventure activities, such as mountain biking, climbing, caving, canoeing, hill walking, fell walking or mountaineering. These key skills can be used around the home, school or local community also and this training may save a life one day.
