Whitehead Tour de Gwent Sportive

Organised by St David’s Hospice Care and Sponsored by Whiteheads Building Services, the Tour de Gwent has become and annual cycling event for everyone. Growing over the years to now incorporate 6 carefully designed courses to suit every type of cyclist and for all abilities. No matter if your a hard-core cyclist after the most challenging route to a community or family group that would like the more leisurely ride up and down the Usk river.

Platinum Route – 93 Miles
Gold Route – 78 Miles
Silver Route – 52 Miles
Bronze Route – 30 Miles
Midi Route – 20 Miles
Kids Route – 3 Miles

For Spectators you have the ability to see the start in the Roman town of Caerleon and also line the streets throughout some of the lovely views around South East Wales. Over the 6 different routes it give you many opportunities to cheer on those that are taking to the pedals for this great cause.

Egg-cellent AdventureJoin the Calidcot Community Working Together and celebrate with the Egg-cellent Adventure on Good Friday 10-3pm at Caldicot Castle.

Adults go free, Child entry is £2 every child receives a prize

So what do we have inn store for you?

  • An Easter Hunt (Every child that takes part revives a gift)
  • Easter Bonnet Parade (1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes plus all taking part receive a certificate.)
  • Winners Announced at 1pm

Easter bonnet parade entries need to be emailed to caldicotcwt@outlook.com before the event.

The Tea Rooms will also be open with Face painters, games and crafts too.

Want to Challenge yourself? We have the perfect event for you no matter what your ability. The Acorn Dalmatian Bike Ride is a fun event and not a Race!

With 4 different routes and distances available it has something to for everyone.

24, 37, 58 mile routes around Newport or 45 miles along the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal.

Arrive back at The Priory, Caerleon for a fantastic finish festival & BBQ.
Marshals, maps, water stations, feed stations and medical cover provided.
Dalmatian themed fancy dress encouraged!
Please help your hospice care service to continue by raising a minimum of £50 in sponsorship.

NOTE: First coach departs Caerleon at 07:30am / 2nd at 07:45 & 3rd at 08:00am
58 Mile route – Registration from 9am – with a rolling start from 09:30am
37 Mile route – Registration from 09:30am – with a rolling start from 10:15am
24 Mile route – Registration from 10am – with a rolling start from 11am

24 Mile Route: Minimum age 12 (on day of event)
37, 45, 58 Mile Routes: Minimum age 16 (on day of event)

Caldicot Carnival is a free family event for all, the parade leaves king George playing field at 12:00 and heads along church road into the castle country park.

At the Caldicot Country Park on the event field there will be plenty to keep the whole family entertained! Including

This year, we are celebrating 10 years of our Unicorn Service and we want you to celebrate with us! Unicorn Day is a chance for you to have fun whilst raising money to help us provide a very important service of ours.

Get together in your class, with your church, with your colleagues, with your family or whoever you have most fun with and get creative with Unicorn day, helping us celebrate in the most magical way!
Bake a unicorn cake, paint your face, and throw a unicorn party or whatever colourful unicorn idea you can think of! There’s no limits this unicorn day!

What is the Unicorn Service?

For the last 10 years, the Unicorn Service has been developed to help support children and young people deal with the life-threatening diagnosis or loss of a loved one, helping them understand and cope in such a difficult time.

The ultimate challenge! Are you brave enough to launch yourself into a 400 foot drop?
It’s a challenge like no other that goes against every natural instinct, it’s about facing fears and pushing natural boundaries to the limit. This experience is all about one decision, the decision to jump that only you, the participant, can make!

The UK Bungee Club is holding a special event for three days only (24,25 & 26 August), at the National Diving and Activity Centre near Chepstow.

With highly trained and qualified staff, the UK Bungee Club has a 100% safety record working strictly in accordance with the BERSA code of safe practice. All equipment is independently tested and certified. Click on the link for more information about the club UK Bungee Club

The cost of the jump is £125 per person, and we request that you aim for a minimum of £200 in sponsorship for St David’s Hospice Care. Don’t forget to download your sponsor form!

Join this popular walking festival now in its 7th year exploring the rich heritage and beauty of the Lower Wye Valley and beyond. A packed programme of 35 guided walks led by experienced walk leaders some who are specialists in the their field such as Dr Mark Lewis Senior Curator at the Roman Legion Museum Caerleon, Rob Dingle Trail Officer for Offa’s Dyke Path, David Morgan, Chair of Long Distance Walkers Association who has devised the Monmouthshire Way, a long distance circular trail starting/finishing at Chepstow and Gavin Jones, Community Engagement Officer for the Living Levels Landscape Partnership scheme who will be joining two brand new walks along the levels to reconnect people and communities to their landscape and provide a sustainable future for this historic and vibrant place.
Some of the walks visit establishments which are rarely or never open to the public such award winning Wye Valley Gin and the farm where the award winning Brookes ice cream is made.
Whether you are a seasoned walker or just enjoy a short walk with the dog there should be something to suit.

After a 2-year break Chepstow Spring Walking Festival is back! It’s a special year for the town as Chepstow is celebrating their 10th anniversary as an accredited Walkers are Welcome Town which is a national network of volunteers who work towards providing the best walking experience for the local community and visitors.

The jam-packed programme of guided walks also celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Wales Coast Path with walks incorporating the Trail but with a twist such as finishing with a walk over the Newport Transport Bridge or visiting Wye Valley Meadery. The festival has mix of well-loved favourites and newly devised routes in areas that are not so well known from Paleonotology to a walk with Gwent Wildlife Trust. You can learn more about the countryside we live and enjoy the company of like minded people.

If you are new to country walking as a pastime, like many have over the past 2 years but unsure where to go, or need an incentive to get your boots on, then this is the answer to get you started with experienced friendly walk leaders who are passionate about what they do.
