The Leighton Rees Cup
Join us for a Celebration of Welsh Darts – Dathliad Dartiau Cymreig
The Petwise Leighton Rees Cup will see Wales’ top four darts players do battle in Merthyr Tydfil in a celebration of Welsh darts.
Premier League star and 2018 Grand Slam champion Gerwyn Price, former World Champion Mark Webster, three-time PDC title winner Jonny Clayton and 2017 World Championship semi-finalist Jamie Lewis will compete at Penydarren Social Club on November 20.
Also on show will be Welsh stars of past and present Jim Williams, Peter Locke, Barrie Bates, Richie Davies, Wayne Warren and Dai Caller.
“I’m really looking forward to this,” said Webster, who famously claimed World Championship glory in 2008.
“Leighton Rees was a giant of the game we all love. Not only was he the first big Welsh star but he was also the first ever World Champion and it will be fantastic to honour him and celebrate darts in Wales with this unique event.”
Leighton Rees won the inaugural World Professional Darts Championship in 1978 and was runner-up the following year. One of the sports first icons, Rees passed away in 2003.

Zoe Lyons: Bald Ambition Monmouth
Zoe Lyons has kept herself busy in the last couple of years by having what can best be described as a monumental midlife crisis. It involved buying a sports car, having a brief marital separation and running a 100k ultra marathon which really didn’t end well. Along the way her hair decided the best thing to do was abandon ship. It ain’t easy being a middle aged woman: try doing it with a combover. Thankfully Zoe has been able to explore the funny side of all these twists and turns. It’s time to sell the silly car and try and put the wheels back on her life.
“A hugely enjoyable mix of brutal put downs and richly funny stories, Lyons has what it takes to delight any crowd” Guardian
“Zoe Lyons really cuts the mustard” Scotsman
“Confident and razor sharp” Observer
