Pontypool RFC V Merthyr RFC – WRU National Cup Semi Final
So after overcoming Bridgend Ravens in an action packed Quarter Final at Pontypool Park, Pooler the Newly crowned 3 time Champions of the Championship are drawn against the reigning Premiership Champions Merthyr RFC.
This WRU National Cup Semi Final will be played at the neutral ground and home of Ebbw Vale, the one and only Eugene Cross Park. With both teams aiming to make it to the Principality Stadium for Finals day this will no doubt be another cracking encounter. With Pontypool RFC seeking revenge after being put out of the Cup last year by Merthyr with a score of 21 – 6.
Once again all connected with Pontypool RFC are encouraging as many of the #PoolerArmy and faithful fans as well as rugby supporters in general to pack out Eugene Cross Park after a crowd of over 2,000 helped the boys get over the last hurdle against Bridgend.
To avoid queues at Eugene Cross Park on Saturday, Pontypool RFC fans will be able to buy tickets for the club’s National Cup semi-final from Pontypool Park between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Thursday, or on the official supporters’ coaches on Saturday.

Zoe Lyons: Bald Ambition – Cardigan
Zoe Lyons has kept herself busy in the last couple of years by having what can best be described as a monumental midlife crisis. It involved buying a sports car, having a brief marital separation and running a 100k ultra marathon which really didn’t end well. Along the way her hair decided the best thing to do was abandon ship. It ain’t easy being a middle aged woman: try doing it with a combover. Thankfully Zoe has been able to explore the funny side of all these twists and turns. It’s time to sell the silly car and try and put the wheels back on her life.
Zoe is the host of BBC2’s Lightning. She’s known as a star of Live at the Apollo and a regular on Have I Got News for You (BBC1), QI (BBC2), and Mock the Week (BBC2). Other credits include Celebrity Antiques Road Trip (BBC2), Stand Up and Deliver (C4), House of Games (BBC2). Zoe is an immediately recognisable voice on Radio 4 as a regular on The News Quiz, Just a Minute, The Unbelievable Truth and The Now Show, and also co-hosts Frank Skinner’s show on Absolute Radio.

Hal Cruttenden ‘It’s Best You Hear It From Me’
After 21 years and 224 days Hal’s back being single. But it’s all going to be fine. Instead of getting the therapy he clearly needs, he’s made a cracking show about it. He’s lost enough weight to almost get his wedding ring off and, while he may be flying solo, he’s far from alone; he’s got his grown-up daughters, his dogs and his divorce lawyer. The fickle finger of fate has turned Hal’s life upside down but he’s sticking a finger right back at it.
‘Go and see Hal Cruttenden, he’s got something to say and he’ll make you laugh a lot!’ Daily Mirror
‘Funniest he’s ever been’ Sunday Times
